A Very Napa Christmas

Categories: Me & Mine

As much as I love the city, the idea that a short car trip can take you somewhere so completely different is oh so lovely. For this holiday season we loaded up the rental car and headed an hour and a half north to wine country. It’s beautiful up there, even in the winter. I love the fall colors.

The wineries all seem to follow a similar formula. Nearly all have a tasting room and most offer a cave tour. If you’re lucky they’ll have a picnic area where you can relax with some food and wine surrounded by gorgeous scenery. I don’t know why we don’t do this every weekend! There are so many to explore that it could keep me busy for years.

On the way back, we thought we’d swing by the redwood forest. Well, one of them anyway. They are an amazing sight. And these aren’t even the “big” ones. I put a couple of four year olds in there for scale.

I just have to leave you with this last one. We actually made this trip with 11 adults and 4 kids. The entire weekend we were joking about all of the laptops and power cords and phones scattered all around the house. Finally, I decided I needed to collect all of the technology we had to bring with us on our “laid back vacation to get away from it all.” Ironic, no?
