First Day of School

I’m posting this a little early since I know Monday will be completely hectic and I won’t be able to get the “First Day of School” photo that I really want. So this is the one I’ll remember when I think of my baby starting first grade. First grade!

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that I got them dressed this morning and we did a little mini-session. We just wandered around my neighborhood shooting whatever caught my eye. There are some cute spots around here!

Hopefully, the little one will be attending the same school but she won’t be able to start on Monday. Here’s to hoping things get sorted out quickly so we don’t spend too many mornings explaining why she doesn’t get to go to school with her big sister like she has up until now. That’s the conversation I’m most dreading next week. Is it just girls, or are little boys just as jealous of their big brothers?

Summer Uniform

Upon our arrival to San Francisco from hot and humid Okinawa, these kind of July temps have us stumped! Shopping for warm clothes has been a welcome change from our usual summer wardrobe of as-little-clothing-as-possible-without-dressing-like-a-ho. I see a fun fall-wardrobe in my future. But for now, hoodies and jeans all around! What do you think, can they pass for locals yet?

Home Sweet Home

We made it! And unscathed even. The trip was remarkably uneventful and the jetlag was short. We are loving our new neighborhood and awaiting some furniture and a dish or two. Not that the floor picnics are all that bad. But baby girl was a little confused when she didn’t see anywhere to sleep. A few minutes later I heard her calling from the closet, “Hey, I found my bed!”

In the meantime, we thought we’d see the city and let the girls choose the first Saturday’s adventures. They wanted to see the sea lions so I insisted on soup in the sourdough bowl. Pier 39 was a definite success.

I have an awesome market just a short block away and enough restaurants to keep us busy trying new food through 2012 and beyond! Definitely happy with the new life. The only thing that could make it better is some internet. We’re looking forward to Wednesday for that. After that it’s just passing the California driver’s test and we’ll be real live residents. Fingers crossed!
