Leaving Okinawa

It’s ironic, I suppose, that the first session I’ll post here on this new site is also the last session I did in Okinawa. Every summer, about a third of the American population in Okinawa migrates away to somewhere new. Just as many arrive to replace them. But, it’s always such a big transition. I’ve waved goodbye to friends and wished them well for years. Now, though, it’s our turn to go. And, it’s theirs too.

The first time I saw this adorable little face was just a couple days after she was born. But oh my goodness I think she’s gotten even cuter in the last three months! Usually, I recommend baby sessions around six months old, but since both of us were on our way out of here, we didn’t have time to wait. Turns out there wasn’t a thing in the world to worry about– she rocked it! I wish I could take more credit, but Dad was a champ at getting those giggles out of her!

Of course, this is still reality and precocious or not, she’s still a three month old. There was a span of time in there when she was just tired and done with me. The only expressions she was interested in were were frowns and furrows. But why let that stop us? Ended up being one of my (and mom’s!) favorite shots of the day.
